With only one day away from the 4th of July and all of the celebrations across nation for USA’s independence, we at affinity4us.com, could not help but wonder if you might be celebrating your own personal independence?
In our society, there is a great deal of emphasis on finding a relationship, being in a relationship and staying in a relationship, but there is little celebration of our personal independence! It’s unfortunate we do not often appreciate our independence in a conscious way. Our independence brings freedom of choice, adds variety to our experiences, and results in a far greater quality of life than one may realize. Whether you are in a relationship or have been single for some time or recently left a relationship, independence is always a great blessing worthy of celebration.
When we are independent and single, we can choose our own destiny without requiring the buy-in of another. When independent, we have time to give more to those we care about. During our periods of independence, we can choose who we wish to spend time with, explore new relationships, spend time alone in peace, focus on our personal growth, and in general, have more time for all things we decide to pursue.
For those of us in relationships, independence is still an important and necessary element. We enjoy our close, intimate relationships and deeply value our closest bonds, but even within these bonds, both parties still need a healthy degree of independence to flourish. Maintaining a degree of personal independence while supporting and respecting our relationships, brings far more into the relationship to share. Independence breaths life into our souls and into our relationships and prevents us from feeling stale and suffocated. Our personal independence adds growth and keeps us and our relationship fresh and exciting.
So tomorrow, as we celebrate Independence Day and give thanks for our freedom and all those who sacrificed to maintain it, take a moment to relish and celebrate your own personal independence. Whether solo, dating, or in a relationship, your personal independence is a tremendous gift! Go ahead and celebrate!
